The Brute rug in the new MADE x Barbican collection is based on a design from one of Miriam Howitt’s 1960s show flats at the Barbican Estate. Howitt used carpets to give visual weight to the spacious off-white rooms.

MADE says the Curve lamps take their cue from the tubular acoustic panels in the Barbican Concert Hall. An earlier lamp beside Howitt’s sofa is not named as a reference, although its silhouette makes the resemblance difficult to miss.
